TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A representative from the Kansas Attorney General's Office confirmed Wednesday that approximately 2,000 concealed carry applications were filed during the first three weeks of the year.
Gun retailers have reported a spike in business as the federal government considers new gun laws.
There were 4,209 applications listed as "in process" with the state of Kansas and nearly 51,000 licenses issued as of January 1, 2013.
Records show the state received more than 59,000 applications from Fiscal Year 2007 to 2013.
