TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Two senior citizens riding in a medical transport van were hurt during a rush hour wreck west of Topeka on Wednesday. The pair, John Berberich, 70, and Zona Berberich, 67, were both taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Shawnee Co. Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said they were hurt when the A and A Transport van collided with a 2010 Ford Focus at the intersection of SW 21st Street and SW Auburn Road shortly after 5:00 p.m. The intersection had to be closed while both vehicles, which suffered front-end damage, had to be towed.

The driver of the Focus, Roxy Senogles, reported failed to yield at the stop sign there and was cited for the wreck. She was not hurt in the incident.

The driver of the 2007 Ford E-250 van, Timothy Bond suffered minor injuries, but didn't want to go to the hospital, the Sheriff's Office said.
