An unidentified Overland Park woman stepped to claim her jackpot from last November's Super Kansas Cash Jackpot lottery. The woman, who is in her 60's, was joined by her husband, three adult children, son-in-law and daughter-in-law when she showed up to collect her $2,131,550 prize.
“She is such a wonderful person, no one deserves this more,” said the daughter-in-law.
Not only was her entire family with her when she collected her winnings, they were there the moment she found out she won.
“It was Thanksgiving Day, the day after the drawing,” the winner told lottery officials. “We were all having dinner at our son’s house and had just gotten done putting the turkey in the oven. I checked my phone to see if anybody had won the Super Kansas Cash jackpot the night before. I saw the jackpot had been hit and when I checked the numbers, I found out it was my ticket!”
Another family member chimed in, saying she just ran outside yelling "I won, I won."
The winning numbers were 5-8-11-23-25 Cashball 15. The winning ticket was a $3 ticket. The winner had picked her own numbers on three of the plays. On the other three, she let the computer pick the numbers. The winning play was one of those the computer had picked, the lottery said.
