Education Commissioner Bob Corkins is hitting the road next week to tour 12 school districts in two days.

Corkins will travel throughout western and northwestern Kansas with Connie Morris, a conservative member of the State Board of Education from St. Francis. Corkins was hired by the board in October and this will be his first tour of districts across Kansas.

Morris has been an outspoken member of the board in her own right. She has advocated the inclusion of more criticism of evolution in the classroom, more parental control over sex education courses and has expressed her views on teaching Hispanic students.

The tour will be Monday and Tuesday of next week. The meetings are designed to be informal with educators, parents and community members in the cities.
