A recent Kansas Supreme Court ruling in a sodomy case could increase pressure to rein in the court or change how justices are selected.
Some legislators are upset by Friday's ruling in the case of Matthew Limon. The Supreme Court said the state couldn't punish illegal sex more harshly because it involves a homosexual act rather than a heterosexual one.
In 2000, Limon was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison for having sex with an underage boy. Had the other boy been a girl, Limon could have been released from prison after 15 months.
Several Republican legislators say the court rewrote state law, a job they say should be left to lawmakers.
Already, some GOP lawmakers are seeking Senate confirmation of new justices.
