The south lawn of the statehouse was full of pets and pet lovers Wednesday. It was part of the 2008 Second Chance for Love program that is sponsored by Hill's Pet Nutrition.

The goal of the program is to get people to open their homes to the millions of pets that are currently in shelters. The tour will travel to select cities across the country to raise awareness.

Participants could ask nutrition questions as well as share their stories of pet adoption. One story will win a $10,000 prize for their local shelter. Enter your story online.

Hill's donated over $30 million worth of food to 1,300 shelters last year. The company helped find homes for more than 931,000 pets last year. They have set a goal to help one million this year.
