KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) _ A Kansas City, Kan., man is set to be sentenced for involuntary manslaughter in the fatal pit-bull attack on a 71-year-old woman nextdoor.

A Wyandotte County jury in April found 34-year-old Derick Lee responsible for the death of Jimmie Mae McConnell. A pit bull Lee was caring for attacked and killed McConnell as she worked in her backyard garden on Jan. 27, 2006.

Lee is scheduled to be sentenced at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Lee's first trial in Wyandotte County District Court last year ended after jurors couldn't reach a verdict.
