SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ The California Supreme Court has overturned a ban on gay marriage, paving the way for California to become the second state where gay and lesbian residents can marry.

The justices released the 4-3 decision today, saying that domestic partnerships are not a good enough substitute for marriage.

The cases were brought by the city of San Francisco, two dozen gay and lesbian couples, Equality California and another gay rights group in March 2004. They were filed after the court halted San Francisco's month-long same-sex wedding march that took place at Mayor Gavin Newsom's direction.

Thank you everyone for once again making christian's out to be the bad people. Just because we belive that homosexuality is wrong, doesn't mean we hate the people who practice it. God loves EVERYONE, he may not approve of all the things that we do, but he still loves us ALL. God created us with free will. We will all be judged one day in front of God, preachers, homosexuals, the Phelps, every person out there. We will all be held accountable for our actions then. It is not our place to judge or tell others what they should and should not do because of what we belive.

Response to "Anonymous"....don't confuse Christian people who oppose gay marriage as being connected with the Phelps cult. Homosexual living is a sin - but there are other sins that people seem to forget exists.

Oh my goodness. Have some tolerance. I don't really care what a couple wants to do. If they happen to be gay, are happy and want to be married why not? No one tells a straight couple what they can and can't do. This article isn't even about abortion. Yes, abortion is a sad ending, BUT, it's a healthy and fairly safe option. I would rather have the procedure available to someone who needs it than have them dump a baby in a trashcan or try to perform their own abortion at home.

Does this mean Fred will move to California, if only we could be so lucky

Let people do their own thing. If you are lucky enough to fine love, go with it. People have enough other things to worry about in this day and age without worring about what everyone else is doing.

Oh here we go. Must be members of that wonderful "church" up there, because we all know that gays make the weather change.... get real people.

This is so sick. No wonder there is so much change in the weather. Tornados, floods, earthquakes. People refuse to live by the Lords commandments and the bible. There will be more and more devestation to come. Believe this!!!It will happen. Abortion and now these gays getting married. Watch out for more devestation and evil things to come about.
