Topeka Fire investigators continue to try to figure out what started two fires at separate garages in a shared alleyway about 100 yards apart.
Shortly before 11:30 pm, crews were called to the blazes at 519 Lafayette and 1512 E 6th St. When they reached the garages, both were fully engulfed.
Because of the distance between the two garages, Shift Commander Bob Martin says one fire could not possibly have started the other.
Investigators are not ruling out arson as a possible cause of the fires.
Martin also said arsons have been decreasing over the years, but there has been a resurgence lately.
No injuries were reported.
