An Emporia man accused of shooting another man to death will have a pre-trial hearing early next month.

Our radio partner KVOE reports Ferman Hernandez waived his preliminary hearing today.

His attorney entered not guilty pleas to involuntary manslaughter for the death of Alfonso Barajas in late March.

Hernandez and Barajas were at a gathering in the 1400 block of east Logan when Hernandez says he fired the rifle at a bird, and Barajas stood up in the line of fire.
