A Topeka day care home is shut down and under review by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

Tender Hearts Day Care Home, operated by Theresa Starkey at 252 NE 59th Terr., has been issued an emergency order of suspension. KDHE says two complaints were filed about the home in the past two weeks.

KDHE says the home exceeded the maximum number of children allowed for a group day care home. They also say a two-hour survey found a long list other violations against Starkey.
