The 13th Annual Kansas Law Enforcement candlelight vigil was held Thursday night as a way to remember all Kansas law enforcement officers who have given their lives in the line of duty.

Robert (Tim) Buckman was the only name added to the roll call this year, as he died trying to warn people about the Greensburg tornado May 2007. He died May 8, 2007 -- one year to the day before the vigil.

His wife Sally Buckman was on hand, and said she never expected to attend the police vigil. She said it brings back memories, but as a tribute, her husband "deserved every bit of it."

Chief Ron Miller said families of the fallen officers often pick one another up -- and have each other's backs during the mourning process.

With the Police helicopter down, a blue light shined from the statehouse to symbolize the thin blue line officers uphold.
