TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ The House is planning to vote on the latest proposal designed to make sure two coal-fired power plants are built in southwest Kansas.

Should the legislature continue to fight for the coal plants?
Yes
No
Don't know/ care

The measure ties the plants to economic development projects in other parts of the state.

House approval would send the measure to Gov. Kathleen Sebelius. But many legislators expect her to veto it.

The Senate approved the measure Tuesday night, 24-10.

The bill clears the way for Sunflower Electric Power Corp. to build the two plants in Finney County. The secretary of health and environment has blocked the construction over potential carbon dioxide emissions.

Supporters of the plants hope to attract enough votes for the latest measure to override a veto.

I believe that the coal burners in Holcomb should be built.Everyone that I have to talked to in Western Kansas wants this.It will create jobs.Governor Sebelius is only against them because it is not in Eastern Kansas.I do not think that Sebelius cares about the people in this part of the state and she is looking out for herself and her political career. She had hurt her credibility with a large portion of the people by trying to hurt us by not letting us improve our way of life by creating jobs.I do not believe that if there is any co2 from this plant that it will be enough to cause any problems.I also beleive that there is much more pollution in the eastern part of the state. What about Jeffery energy center outside of Topeka? Will Sebelius go along with a bio defense lab at Manhattan? How will she agree to the utility for that when she is so against the plant at Holcomb? How smart is it to bring a lab that will test cattle diseases to the heart of cattle country? We need a leader for ks

Do you think Shawnee County should take the City of Topeka up on its offer to television commission meetings, too?

Yes, but I wouldn't be home to watch them.
No, it wouldn't be that interesting.
I might be interested in watching a webcast at my convenience.
