Nudity in Topeka
In Topeka there is no ordinance or law that says public nudity is a crime.
That's why City Councilman Brett Blackburn proposed an ordinance to fine people caught in public - nude. Posted: 10:05 PM Oct 1, 2005Reporter: Lisa Boschert |

Blackburn says he got the idea for the ordinance when the nude plays sponsored by Lake Edun -- a nudist camp-- came to TPAC.
And he found out there were no city laws against nudity.
Not everyone is happy with his proposal.
Webb Garlinghouse, owner of Lake Edun says even though the ordinance will not affect its nudist foundation, or the nude plays he thinks this is a step away from freedom,"Does he want us all to be the same, all cut from the same mold? Or does he want to have some diversity to our town?"
In two weeks the city council will vote on the ordinance and Blackburn says he's sure it'll pass, "It makes sense to have a ordinance where people can't walk in public places without their clothes on."
