General Information: Call the United Way of Greater Topeka at (785) 273-4804 or check online at www.unitedwaytopeka.org.

Food and Basic Needs Donations: You can take non-perishable food and basic needs donations for local evacuee relief to Let's Help, Inc. at 215 Quincy - Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Clothing: New and gently used donations for local evacuee relief can be taken to three locations around Topeka.
Let's Help, Inc. 200 S. Kansas Ave. - Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Salvation Army 1320 SE 6th St. - Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Topeka Rescue Mission 401 NW Morris - Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Monetary Donations: You can mail your monetary donations (cash or check) to the United Way at 1315 SW Arrowhead Rd. Topeka, KS 66614. Donors should indicate they would like their donation to go the Hurricane Katrina Fund. One hundred percent of the donations will go toward the relief effort.

Monetary Donations: You can also donate money to the American Red Cross. Call 1-800-HELP-NOW or make a donation online at www.redcross.org. You can donate to the national effort, or specify where you want your money to go. Topeka's local chapter is the Kansas Capital Area Chapter located at 1221 SW 17th St. Topeka, KS 66604. The phone number is (785) 234-0568 and Web site is www.topekaredcross.org

Wheelchair Donations: Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging and Community Action is collecting clean and in good repair abulatory devices such as wheelchairs, canes and walkers. You can drop them off at the JAAA office at 1720 SW Topeka Blvd or at Community Action 621 SE Swygart. For more information call Jean from JAAA at 235-1367 or Alice at Community Action at 235-9296.

To volunteer: Call the United Way at (785) 273-4804 and you will directed to the appropriate agency.
