With a better idea of how many Gulf Coast evacuees they'll receive, emergency management officials in Wichita are completing plans to help them settle in.

Federal authorities now say up to 500 people left homeless by
Hurricane Katrina will arrive Monday at Mid-Continent Airport. They'll travel on commercial flights from New Orleans, making them some of the last people to leave of the flooded city.

Angie Duntz is a spokeswoman for Sedgwick County's emergency
management office. She says the evacuees will be taken first to the
Kansas Coliseum for registration, food and showers.

They'll then be housed at the Century Two exposition center. Local agencies will help them find housing and jobs in the Wichita area.

Duntz said Kansas officials have been told the evacuees won't need immediate medical attention.
