Topekans are doing their part to help get items to hurricane refugee in Orange, Texas. The owners of Savannah Transportation, Hoyt's Truck Center, Beto Junction Wholesale, and Capital City Oil are working with local churches to collect supplies.

Folks are dropping off food, water, bedding, and many other supplies at the former Circuit City parking lot at 21st and Wanamaker. Within hours Saturday, the response was overwhelming. "Bigger than I ever thought!" says Hoyt Moore, owner of Hoyt's Truck Center. "I thought- Boy if we can fill a truck load, let's go ahead and do it. Well, the truckload's not a problem. We've got two others on standby."

The donations will be delivered directly to Red Cross overflow shelters in and around Orange, Texas. You can donate Saturday until 8 PM, Sunday from noon to 8 PM, and Monday from 8 AM to 8PM.
