A federal appeals court in Denver denies an emergency request that two former top executives of Westar Energy said was crucial for defending themselves.
The Tenth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against attorneys for David Wittig and Douglas Lake, who wanted to present oral arguments in their fight to have Westar resume paying their legal fees. Wittig and Lake are on trial in Kansas City, Kansas, on charges of looting Westar.
