Kansas officials tell the federal government they've pinpointed shelter space for nearly 2,200 potential evacuees from Hurricane Rita.
But Joy Moser, a spokeswoman for the state emergency management department, says today that so far no evacuees have arrived in Kansas. Until the state hears buses are rolling, no shelters will be established.
For some Kansas counties, this is the second time in three weeks they're preparing to house people displaced from the Gulf Coast.
Kansas officials say that Sedgwick County has room for 500 long-term evacuees and 500 more for up to 10 days. Saline County also can shelter 500 people.
Offers of shelter space have also come from Finney, Douglas, Montgomery and Riley counties.
