After a run-in with Lawrence police, Ezekiel Rubottom has his foot exactly where he wants it: in a bucket of formaldehyde on his front porch. Doctors told him he could keep his limb after he had it amputated earlier this month due to a severe infection.
The 21-year-old Rubottom had been keeping the foot in a five-gallon
bucket of formaldehyde since it was amputated three weeks ago.
Curious onlookers flocked to see the attraction, but police seized the foot after a parent expressed concern.
After police checked Rubottom's medical records, they determined
the foot was amputated and wasn't evidence of a crime. They
returned it to Rubottom Monday. Rubottom said he was born with a clubbed left foot, and has suffered with pressure sores and infections throughout his life.
