Add Kansas State to the list of universities extending help to college students displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Dean of Student Life Pat Bosco says K-State has e-mailed students at universities in Louisiana and Mississippi with enrollment information. The university is offering financial assistance, waiver of a late-registration fee and help finding housing in Manhattan.

Also, Bosco said, the university will waive its $25 late registration fee.

Kansas State opens its football season with a game Saturday in Manhattan. Student athletes plan to collect donations for disaster relief, and President Jon Wefald is encouraging employees to consider contributions.

The University of Kansas in Lawrence is offering similar help to displaced students, and Washburn University in Topeka is offering students lower in-state tuition rates.
