Jurors returned to the federal courthouse in Kansas City, Kansas, to hash out verdicts in the fraud trial of two former Westar Energy executives.
The panel completed a fourth full day of deliberations Thursday on the 40 counts against former CEO David Wittig and former vice president Douglas Lake.
It's the second trial for Wittig and Lake on charges of inflating their compensation from the Topeka utility by millions of dollars.
Last December, a jury deliberated six and a-half days but failed to reach verdicts on more than half the 40 counts of conspiracy, wire fraud and other offenses. U.S. District Judge Julie Robinson then declared a mistrial, leading to the second proceeding that began in June.
