A man is injured and rushed to the hospital after getting shot in his own home Thursday morning. The shooting happened at 3306 Girard around 11:30AM.

Topeka police say a man was either welcomed in the home or broke into the house when the confrontation began; their investigation into those details continues.

According to Cpl. Frank Padilla, with TPD, a man in his mid 30's was shot once in his arm the bullet entered and exited the other side.

The victim’s injures are described as non-life threatening. Police believe the victim knew the alleged shooter who is being described as a black male in his late 20's, wearing dark clothing, last seen leaving the area on foot.

If you saw anything you are asked to call detectives at 785-368-9400.
