He's already paid calls this year on key Republicans in Iowa and New Hampshire. This week, Kansas Senator Sam Brownback adds South Carolina to his itinerary.
Brownback is weighing a possible White House run in 2008.
South Carolina plays a key role in presidential nominations. It holds the first Republican primary in the South, following the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary.
Brownback will be in South Carolina on Friday and Saturday for a
half-dozen events, including a state Republican fundraiser. He'll
also meet with a group of pastors in Charleston and give an interview on radio.
South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint will accompany Brownback during the trip. DeMint has done the same for other prominent Republicans considering bids for the White House.
