A former nursing home aide pleads guilty to dropping a patient and failing to report the incident.
Marlise Shaw is set for sentencing next month in Sedgwick County District Court. Attorney General Phill Kline says Shaw pleaded to one felony and one misdemeanor count of mistreating a dependent adult. The incident happened in January of last year at a Wichita nursing home.
Prosecutors say Shaw dropped the man while moving him from a wheelchair to a bed, leaving him with a broken hip. Diagnosis was delayed two weeks because Shaw failed to report the fall.
Shaw lost her job and her credential as a certified nurse's aide.
