WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A 20-year-old Wichita man is sentenced to six months in jail for having sex with a dog, and has been ordered to register as a sex offender.

Joshua Coman pleaded guilty last week to sodomy of an animal and was sentenced to the maximum Wednesday. Coman was arrested last month after an acquaintance told police she saw him in her garage with her 4-year-old female Rottweiler.

Kansas law defines a sex offender as anyone convicted of any sexually-motivated crime performed for the purpose of sexual gratification.

Sedgwick County District Judge Joseph Bribiesca found Coman's behavior met those requirements and ordered him to register as a sex offender.

Coman is already on probation for a similar encounter with another Rottweiler in Reno County last year.
