TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ A House committee makes quick work of a new funeral-picketing bill, sending it to the chamber debate.

The Federal and State Affairs Committee heard from supporters of the bill Tuesday. They then voted unanimously to send it on its way, a process normally done on separate days.

The bill replaces a 2007 law. Its enforcement was nullified last week by the Kansas Supreme Court. The court struck down a provision that required it or a federal court to uphold the law as constitutional before it could be enforced.

The new bill is the same as the law but without the offending
section.
