WASHINGTON (AP) _ The IRS says if you're eager to get your $600 economic stimulus rebate you should sign up for direct deposit.

The agency says among those receiving rebate checks, people with Social Security numbers whose last two digits are low, will get their checks first.

Taxpayers who receive their refunds -- or make payments -- through direct deposit will begin receiving payments by May 2nd, with all such deposits expected to be made within two weeks.

Then, starting by May 16th, the rest of the 130 million stimulus payments will start going out as checks sent through the mail. The IRS said the last of the rebate checks should be mailed by July 11th.

Most individuals would get $600; couples filing jointly would get $1,200. A $300 per-child credit would be added on.

Full schedule from the IRS:
DIRECT DEPOSIT
Last two SSN digits: Payment will be transmitted:
00 through 20 May 2
21 through 75 May 9
76 through 99 May 16

PAPER CHECK
Last two SSN digits: Payments will be mailed by:
00 through 09 May 16
10 through 18 May 23
19 through 25 May 30
26 through 38 June 6
39 through 51 June 13
52 through 63 June 20
64 through 75 June 27
76 through 87 July 4
88 through 99 July 11

People who file a return after April 15 will receive their economic stimulus payment, but probably about two weeks later than the schedule shows. A return must be filed by October 15 in order to receive a stimulus payment this year.

To calculate your rebate amount use the online calculator at irs.gov.

You would have filed your taxes and set up a direct deposit otherwise you would have had the check mailed to you.

It is my understanding if you had direct deposit on your taxes then it will be that if you mailed then it will be that. I personally dont like the system cause our social is at the end and we mailed but we filed back in january so people that didnt file till last minute will get there money before us.

Would we of had to file our taxes last year or this year in order to get our rebate checks.

RESPONSE: It is based on 2007 tax returns.
