OLATHE, Kan. (AP) _ Former Attorney General Paul Morrison says he's anxious to have a chance to defend himself against allegations of criminal misconduct.

In a brief news conference, Morrison accused Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline of conducting a personal vendetta against him.

Morrison and his attorney, Trey Pettleton, also criticized Kline for appointing a special prosecutor, who left Kline's office only four weeks ago, to investigate the allegations.

Morrison resigned in January amid a sex scandal.

Kline has accused him of witness tampering, obstructing an investigation and blackmail.

Pettleton says those allegations are completely untrue and Kline has no evidence to support them.

These guys need to get off their ego's and quit wasting tax payer dollars. Worse than a couple 5 yr olds on the play ground! Getting very tired of both of them, send 'em out the door, there are others who can do the job!

When our elected officials conduct themselves as above the law, they are no better than those who break the law. It is the families of those effected who my heart goes out to. As for Mr. Kline and Mr. Morrison - their mutual hatred for each other - their mutual vendettas for each other - they will be each other's undoing if they don't get a grip on the reality of things.

Paul Morrison is certainly guilty of incredibly poor judgement, but it remains to be seen whether he's guilty of anything else. The appointment of former Kline employees could be construed as a conflict of interest and certainly supports Morrison's contention of a personal vendetta. There's nothing more vengeful than a hateful, fundamentalist Christian like Kline who prefers the old testament "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord" to Jesus's "Turn the other cheek." What's a few weeks ago and revealed he's already started the job he'll assume full time after leaving office, that he spends more time out of the office than in, and that contrary to legal requirements does not actually reside in Johnson County. Why haven't we heard more about Kline's recent transgressions and lapses in judgement?

I'm not a fan of either man.. but Kline probably does have a vendetta, he seems to be the vindictive type.
