The U.S. Supreme Court decision to review a ruling that struck down the Kansas capital punishment law is being applauded by the prosecutor who got serial killer John Robinson a death sentence.
Tuesday's decision raises the possibility that Robinson and six other former death row inmates eventually could face execution.
Johnson County District Attorney Paul Morrison called the high court's decision "great news.'' He had argued that the state's law was constitutional.
But anti-death penalty activist Bill Lucero said there's a good chance the court will uphold the Kansas decision.
The Kansas Supreme Court ruled 4-3 in December that the 1994 law was flawed because of a single provision dealing with how juries weigh evidence for and against imposing a death sentence.
