Some Kansas community's are getting help when it comes to preventing and reducing rates of underage drinking.

The Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation services has awarded strategic prevention framework grants to fourteen community partnerships.

Locally, that includes Clay Counts in Clay County, Drug Free Osage County - Safe Streets Coalition in Shawnee - and United Four Youth in Nemaha County.

All of the counties that are to recieve funds are: Clay County, Osage County, Shawnee County, Nemaha County, Finney County, Harper County, Kingman County, Seward County, Linn County, Dickinson County, Reno County, Russell County, Sumner County, Woodson County.

The grant awards total $600,000 and will support a nine-month planning process to develop community-based strategies to impact underage drinking.

Additional money will also be made available to help community's implement those plans over the next three years.
