Alongside the vintage toasters and the guy selling his birthday, the southeast Kansas town of Galena is putting bricks on the Internet auction site eBay. The bricks once lined a stretch of Route 66 that goes through town. The bricks lined the road for about seven city blocks. But the bricks were buried under several layers or asphalt. The city rediscovered about one-thoudsand bricks during a curb and gutter project. City officials want to test the market by selling 20 of the brick. They could go on the block by the end of the week. If there's enough demand and the price is high enough, Galena officials say they'll put more up for sale and might even dig up more.
