TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ Ford County wants the Kansas Lottery to accept a third casino proposal for the Dodge City area.
The county commission has asked the Lottery Commission to extend its deadline for accepting applications, which was Wednesday. The Lottery received two applications.
But officials also heard on that day from a third group, saying it planned to file a proposal. The proposal didn't arrive before the Lottery closed for the day.
The Lottery Commission scheduled a meeting Monday to discuss the request.
A state law allows one casino each in Ford, Sumner, Wyandotte and either Cherokee or Crawford County. The Lottery will own the new gambling but contract with developers to build and manage the casinos.
