TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ Attorney General Paul Morrison has hired an
outside lawyer after allegations of professional and legal
misconduct were leveled against him by a woman with whom he had an extramarital affair.
Spokeswoman Ashley Anstaett says Morrison retained Overland Park
attorney Nick Badgerow, who represented Supreme Court Justice
Lawton last year before the Commission on Judicial Qualifications.
Meanwhile, Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline was
given permission by the county commission today to hire a special
prosecutor to investigate what he says involves blackmail and
telephone harassment.
The commission admonished Nuss for having a lunchtime
conversation with two senators at a time when the Legislature was
under a court mandate to spend more money on education.
Morrison has acknowledged the affair but has denied the
allegations of misconduct.
