Evolution Debate
Public hearings on science standards continue Tuesday

Several hundred people are expected to attend a hearing tomorrow night on revised state science standards -- and evolution.
That's why the hearing has been moved by a committee appointed by the State Board of Education to rewrite the science standards.
The committee planned to have the hearing in the board's meeting room.
But last week, between four hundred and five hundred people showed up for a hearing at Schlagle High School in Kansas City, Kansas.
Now, tomorrow night's hearing is in a ballroom at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Topeka, set for 7 pm.
Some committee members want to expose students to more criticism of evolution in the classroom. Others worry they're trying to make room for creationism or intelligent design.
