KU Math and Science Teaching Program Receives Grant
An organization awarded the University of Kansas a grant aimed at doubling the number of math and science graduates.

A nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding math and science programs gave the University of Kansas a boost.
The National Math and Science Initiative awarded a $2.4 million grant aimed at doubling the number of math and science teachers graduating.
KU's new collaborative program, called UKanTeach, leads to a degree in science or math and a teaching license in four years.
Officials say the move will help meet the crucial need for math and science teachers. Governor Kathleen Sebelius says math and science is the key to Kansas' ability to succeed in the global economy.
