Authorities are investigating the death of a Wichita woman as a possible case of carbon monoxide poisoning. The Sedgwick County sheriff's office says the woman's family was using a portable generator after losing electricity. The generator was in a garage below the woman's bedroom, and county firefighters found a high level of carbon monoxide in the home. Authorities say the husband and son of the 63-year-old woman were unable to revive her this morning. Portable generators are in wide use throughout south-central Kansas because of this week's power outages. Fire officials caution that the machines should only be run outdoors. At least seven people have been treated at Wichita hospitals for carbon-monoxide symptoms in the past day.
