Governor Sebelius has named a University of Kansas professor as her Director of Administrative Communications. The job goes to Burdett Loomis, who heads the political science department at KU.

He starts work January 1 with the governor's office and university sharing the cost of his salary.

The governor says Loomis has spent his career studying state government and can help agencies work together and do a better job of communicating with the public. Loomis will continue to direct the university's legislative internship program.

Loomis has written or edited 25 books since coming to KU in 1979. One of his books was a study of the Kansas Legislature.
