A new bishop has been named for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salina, in central Kansas.
The Vatican says Pope John Paul the Second has accepted the resignation of Bishop George Fitzsimmons because of his age.
The 76-year-old Fitzsimmons will be succeeded by a 49-year-old priest from Wichita. He's the Reverend Paul Coakley, pastor of the Church of the Magdalene in Wichita.
