Senator Sam Brownback called for racial reconciliation in an appearance before the NAACP last night.
The Kansas Republican told those gathered for a two-day convention in Salina that the nation's racial wound has been poked for far too long instead of trying to heal it.
And the time for healing, he said, is now.
Brownback noted that Kansas has a history of doing what's right, pointing to abolitionists refusal to allow the state have slaves.
But he said work remains, even in his own party.
He said ``The Republican Party is good on righteousness and weak on justice ... A throne that is unbalanced cannot stand.''
