OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) _ Abortion opponents say Planned Parenthood of Overland Park has broken laws beyond the 107 charges Johnson County DA Phill Kline filed last week.
But Planned Parenthood says the claims by the anti-abortion coalition seeking a grand jury probe already have been investigated and found to be without merit. The group says they have enough signatures to convene a grand jury but plan to continue collecting them through today.
Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri Peter Brownlie denies the coalition's claims.
The petitions say the clinic fails to report suspected child abuse, doesn't comply with parental consent requirements and fails to enforce the required 24-hour waiting period. It also says the facility takes part in the illegal trafficking of fetal tissue.
Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri oversees 11 clinics in the two states.
