FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) — A base spokesman said early Friday that three people are dead - including the shooter of a self-inflicted wound - at Marine Base Quantico in Virginia. Authorities were in a standoff early Friday with the suspect, who had barricaded himself in barracks, a base spokesman said.
The shooting happened around 11 p.m. Thursday and the base was put on lockdown, Lt. Agustin Solivan said.
"It's still a standoff situation," Solivan said shortly after 2 a.m. Friday. At about 3:20 a.m. word came down that the shooter had killed himself and the death toll was at three, including the shooter.
Solivan said they believe the suspect, whose name wasn't released, is a staff member at the officer candidate school at the base. No information on the victims was immediately released.
