Posted: 12/05/2008 - The first involved Carl Baker, convicted of murder and kidnapping in the June 2006 death of homeless advocate David Owen. Baker had appealed his life sentence on the murder charge and 19-years for kidnapping. The court also upheld a life sentence for Gregory Walls. He was convicted in the 1993 murder of Timothy Walls at a central Topeka apartment complex.
