Emporia, KAN. (WIBW)--A 24-year-old college student accused of abandoning her newborn baby in a trash bin is a former honor-roll student in Hutchinson.
Christina Nicole Devine was charged Monday with attempted first-degree murder after the 7-pound, 10-ounce baby boy was found alive wrapped in a trash bag in a trash bin in Emporia. A maintenance worker at an apartment complex found the baby.
The Hutchinson News reports that Devine was a former honor-roll student at Hutchinson High School.
The baby was found between 30 minutes to an hour after being born, and is doing well.
