WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE)-- Wichita Police are searching for a man who held his girlfriend hostage at gunpoint.

Police responded to a home around 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of South Erie, near Harry and George Washington Blvd. Sgt. John Hoofer says a 37-year-old woman reported that she had been fighting with her 29-year-old boyfriend.

The fighting escalated and the boyfriend pulled a gun on her, refusing to let her leave. The suspect eventually left the home.

Sgt. Hoofer says the incident is classified as a kidnapping because the woman was being held against her will and wasn't allowed to leave. Police know who the suspect is and are actively searching for him.
