JUNCTION CITY, Kan. -- After an investigation spanning several months, authorities have arrested a Junction City couple accused of selling marijuana and seized drugs, cash, cars and a stolen gun from their home.
Junction City Police Chief Tim Brown released the following information on the drug bust to the media on Wednesday:
On May 16, 2012 at 5 AM, the Junction City-Geary County Drug Operations Group, assisted by the Junction City-Geary County S.W.A.T, executed a search warrant at 611 W. 5th St., Junction City, Kansas. The search warrant was obtained after a 3 month long investigation by the Drug Operations Group into suspected drug activity at the residence.
The following persons were arrested:
Michael Gene Artis, age 53 of Junction City. He was charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Acquisition of Drug Proceeds, No Kansas Drug Tax Stamp, Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Angela Denise Beamon, age 50 of Junction City. She was charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Acquisition of Drug Proceeds, No Kansas Drug Tax Stamp, Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Both were confined at the Geary County Detention Center pending their first appearance in the Geary County District Court.
The Drug Operations Group seized marijuana with an estimated street value of $4,500.00, $1,400 currency, drug paraphernalia, a 1991 Mercedes Benz, a 1996 Cadillac Eldorado, a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer, and a stolen handgun.
The Junction City-Geary County Drug Operations Group is a joint task force composed of members of the Junction City Police Department, Geary County Sheriff’s Department, and Grandview Plaza Police Department.
