TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - One man arrested for a weekend shooting was free on bond Monday, while a second suspect, who also was initially released, was back behind bars.
Donald Eugene Thomas II and Camona Javaughn Crowder were booked early Sunday on charges including aggravated assault, aggravated battery ad interference with a law enforcement officer for a shooting early Sunday at Reed's Lakeside bar, SE 29th and Croco. Crowder also was booked on an additional charge of criminal possession of a firearm by a felon.
Jail records indicate both posted bond Sunday night, but jail officials say Crowder was booked back in Monday for a probation violation. Dept. of Corrections indicate Crowder was convicted for a 2008 robbery attempt.
Officers responded to a fight call at Reed's around 12:30 am Sunday. Police say someone fired shots outside the building, hitting several vehicles and a man who was inside. His wound was not considered life threatening.
