TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A trial date is set for a man accused of shooting his wife at a Topeka apartment complex.
37-year-old Shiek Azeez waived his preliminary hearing that was scheduled for Wednesday. Shawnee County District Court records show he also waived formal arraignment and the court entered "not guilty" pleas on his behalf.
Azeez is charged with attempted second degree murder for an October 10th shooting at the Overlook Apartments, located just west of SW Huntoon and Wanamaker.
Police had said the victim was shot several times. They also said the victim's child was found in the apartment where the shooting happened, but was not injured.
A jury trial is set for January 21st and is expected to last four days.
