TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The trial for a man accused in what prosecutors say was a holdup that ended in murder is again delayed.
Michael Wilkins is charged in the July 2011 shooting death of Natalie Gibson. He's one of nine people accused in the case. Police say the group approached Gibson and her partner, Lori Allison, in their driveway as they were returning from celebrating Gibson's birthday. Allison was injured but survived.
Wilkins' trial was initially set for April, then delayed to July 29th. A judge on Tuesday granted a defense request to push it back again. Prosecutors tell 13 News they did not object to the request. The trial is now set for February 3, 2014, and is expected to take three weeks.
