TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A jury trial is set for a women charged with hitting a girl who was riding her bicycle.
The trial for Rebecca Horting is scheduled to begin on December 8th. A pretrial hearing is set for October 27th.
Horting was bound over for trial last week on one count of aggravated battery - knowingly causing great bodily harm. The charge stems from the May 2013 incident in which she hit then 12-year-old Rylee Robinson on S. Topeka Blvd. Robinson survived, but suffered serious injuries, including losing her leg.
During a preliminary hearing last Tuesday, prosecutors testified Horting was texting while driving and was also speeding.
